Our 11-Step Rug Cleaning Process
Step 1: Extraction
Our rug specialists start by examining the material, construction, and condition of your rug in order to determine the effort required to clean it. We then explain to you the possible problems that could occur and our proposed method of cleaning.
Step 2: Full Water Immersion, Front & Back
The first step of the cleaning process involves immersing your rug in a pool of water to ensure it’s completely saturated. This loosens the dirt and dust trapped deep inside the pores of your rug. We always use cold water to prevent damage to your rug’s original dye.
Step 3: Hand Wash
Next, our cleaners work hard, scrubbing your rug with hand brushes specially designed to clean the corners and borders of your rug without damaging the fabric. Manual cleaning allows us to concentrate on stained areas, and our customized detergent helps us remove every mark.
Step 4: Detergent & Duster
Our organic detergent effectively removes stains while being gentle on your rug’s dye. Once we apply the detergent to the surface, we use a hand-operated deep cleaning duster with long leather strips to work it into the fibers of the rug. Our detergent is always formulated for your specific rug fabric type, so it’s not only effective but also safe.
Step 5: Detergent Rinse
In order to completely remove all the dirt from your rug, we rinse it with detergent. This step plays an essential role in catching any remaining debris.
Step 6: Flat Spread Treatment
This labor-intensive step involves spading your rug to remove any pollutants still left inside the pores of your rug. This is completed by our trained spade technicians.

Step 7: Detergent & Finisher
We use buffers as one of the final steps in cleaning, as the spade treatment may leave some grime on the rug’s surface. The fine brush bristles of the buffer help eliminate a fine layer of dirt from the surface. Many rug cleaners use buffers for their main cleaning as they can effectively remove fine pollutants that other cleaning methods may leave behind.
Step 8: Centrifuge Water Extraction
After ensuring all the dirt and grime has been extracted, we use a centrifugal rug wringer that rotates at a high speed of around 2000 rpm. This wringer removes almost 95% of the water from the rug in only a few minutes. It’s one of the safest methods of water removal, as leaving it in the sun for too long may cause the color of your rug to fade.
Step 9: Brush Treatment
Since the centrifugal drying can disturb the natural alignment of the rug fibers, our experienced rug cleaners manually brush the rug to return the fibers to their original position. There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to the brush treatment. The brush we use is selected to carefully fix your rug while protecting its unique material and construction.
Step 10: Natural Sun Drying
In order to completely dry your rug, we put it in the sun whenever it’s available, or inside a temperature-controlled chamber if the sun isn’t available. This natural sun-drying process evaporates all unpleasant odors along with any remaining moisture.
Step 11: Final Vacuum
After the rug is completely dry, our cleaners will vacuum it with a special rug vacuum. This removes any dust that has settled on the fibers during the final drying process. This attention to detail is what sets us apart from other rug cleaners.
Once the rug has been sufficiently vacuumed, we will pack it up and deliver it to you so you can enjoy your freshly cleaned and beautiful rug.
